Your Questions

How does the doctor keep up-to-date on all of the current techniques and procedures?

Dr. Twohig accumulated more than 200 hours of continuing education last year, including classes in Smile Design, Full Mouth Reconstruction, TMJ Therapy, Photography and All-Porcelain Computerized Restorations.

He is a charter member in both the Greater Green Bay Pankey Study Club and Greater Green Bay Seattle Study Club. Both of these clubs are dedicated to training young dentists in comprehensive patient treatment.

He also is involved with internet study groups that specialize in cosmetic, laser and computerized dentistry. He encourages all members of the staff to take continuing education classes, too. As a team and as individuals, our office makes it our responsibility to be familiar with the latest techniques and materials.

Can you show me what my smile can look like ahead of time with imaging software?

We routinely use dental imaging to help our patients visualize the end results of cosmetic and restorative work. By simply asking the right questions, taking various photos of your current smile, and keying the correct information into the computer, we can generate a graphic image to demonstrate accurately how your procedure will affect your smile.

Do you accept referrals?

We are happy to accept referrals from other dental offices as well as from recommendations by our patients to their family and friends. Your referrals are our best compliments!

Do you accept my insurance plan?

We accept many plans, however, we do not participate in some of them because of their restrictions. The insurance industry sometimes makes it difficult for us to maintain our excellence while participating as a provider. Our philosophy does not allow the insurance industry to dictate the quality of care and level of service we provide to our patients. In fact, we are proud to be setting standards of excellence in dentistry. We will assist you in the insurance filing process.

I have a temporary crown in my mouth. What happens if it comes off or breaks?

If it is in one piece, try to fit it back over your tooth. Keep in mind that a crown is like a puzzle piece and will only go in one way. If it doesn’t slip easily into place, do not force it. If you can get it to sit back onto (or into) the tooth, you can apply Fixodent to the inside of the crown, then gently put the crown back onto (or into) the tooth, apply slight pressure until it feels secure, gently close your teeth together and then clean off the excess Fixodent with a wet finger. A thick mixture of Vaseline and talcum powder will also work if you don’t have Fixodent handy. Either of these will hold your temporary crown in place for a short time if you can’t come into the office right away. Be very careful when you are eating since the temporary can dislodge again. Try to eat on the other side of your mouth (good advice whenever you have a temporary crown in place)!

What different payment options do you provide?

Patients can pay by cash, check and all major credit cards, including Visa and MasterCard. We also have two dental patient financing programs to help patients extend payments when necessary. Capital One Healthcare Finance and CareCredit are terrific companies that we work with to be sure that you get the dental care that you want and need. Utilizing these financing programs makes major dental work even more affordable and appropriate for you.

How can I safely whiten my teeth?

There are a number of procedures available to help whiten your smile, from at-home whitening products to in-office supervised treatments. Dr. Twohig can help evaluate the potential for whitening your teeth based on their current color and the causes of any discoloration. Once you have decided on the most appropriate method, you will probably spend anywhere from two to four weeks undergoing a series of simple whitening treatments.
