Insurance and Financing
We’re happy to offer our patients two fantastic ways to save on their care at every visit.
Our dental practice works with most dental insurance plans; however, we are an out of network (non-contracted) provider and encourage our patients to please familiarize themselves with their insurance plan. As a courtesy to our patients, we will submit your insurance claim but it is your responsibility to follow up regarding benefit payments. Because we are a non-contracted provider, insurance plans do send the benefit payment to the policy holder.
If you currently do NOT have insurance, we also accept financing through our partners at CareCredit. With them, you can qualify for a low-to-no interest payment plan that will break up your out-of-pocket costs into much smaller monthly installments. Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that holistic dentistry may be very unfamiliar to some people, so below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive every day. If you have more questions for us, please don’t hesitate to pick up the phone and give us a call!
What is holistic dentistry?
Holistic dentistry is an approach to dental care that focuses on a person’s overall health, not just their mouth. It is also focused on preserving as much of the natural teeth as possible and avoiding the use of traditional dental materials that may be toxic, including fluoride and mercury-laden fillings. At our practice, our basic goal is to give you a healthy body along with a gorgeous smile.
Is holistic dentistry right for me?
If you would like to partner with a dentist who considers your overall health when performing any procedure, or if you have particular health concerns you would like to be kept in mind while taking care of your smile, then holistic dentistry is likely the right fit for you.
Can you remove my old metal fillings?
Yes, we’re more than happy to remove traditional metal fillings (that contain mercury) and replace them with ones made of a safer, biocompatible material—composite resin. Resin-based fillings also have the advantage that they can be specially shaded to blend in with a patient’s tooth color.
How does ozone therapy work?
Ozone therapy uses enriched oxygen, or O3, in a variety of ways to make a multitude of dental treatments more comfortable and less invasive. With ozone, we can help kill oral bacteria on the teeth and gums, numb patients before procedures, and prepare their teeth for restorations without having to remove healthy enamel.
What are ozone injections?
Ozone injections offer a safe and holistic solution to sagging skin and wrinkles on the face. Unlike Botox, ozone doesn’t paralyze the muscles in the face, and instead naturally lifts, firms, and tones the skin. The treatment only takes a few minutes and requires NO local anesthetic to be virtually painless. With it, we have the ability to give you smoother, younger looking skin to go with your beautiful new smile!
What is cavitation surgery?
Cavitation surgery is a procedure used to repair holes in the jawbone that have been created by an infection/ poor blood flow in the area. They often develop after a tooth extraction or root canal, and they can cause a multitude of unpleasant symptoms, including widespread oral pain and chronic headaches. Many people are unaware of this problem, but Dr. Twohig is able to find and treat cavitations right in our office, and his overall approach helps prevent them from occurring in the first place.
Is biomimetic dentistry better than traditional dentistry?
Biomimetic dentistry is built on the principle of replicating the natural structures of the teeth rather than replacing them during treatment. In practice, this means that Dr. Twohig will work to preserve as much of a damaged/decayed tooth as possible rather than simply cut it down to fit a crown. Composite resin is used to make strong and subtle restorations that fit in with healthy tooth structure just like natural enamel. In the end, this helps a patient keep more of their natural teeth and also involves less invasive dental work.
How can a dentist help with sleep apnea?
Sleep apnea is a condition that physically occurs in the mouth and throat, and it can be successfully treated using a custom-made oral appliance. No one understands this part of the body better than a dentist, and with additional sleep apnea training, they are able to provide very effective and non-invasive treatment that is much more comfortable than a CPAP machine.
Do you accept dental insurance?
We will be happy to submit insurance claims as a courtesy to our patients to help ensure that you receive the maximum reimbursement for quality care. However, as an out-of-network dental insurance provider, we usually cannot access a fee schedule or other specific information relative to your plan. Therefore, we ask that each patient knows and understands their own insurance benefits clearly -- information which can be accessed easily online or by contacting your insurance provider directly.
Do you offer any financing?
Yes, we accept payment plans from CareCredit. With them, you can qualify for a low-to-no interest plan that will break up the cost of your care into whatever way works best for your budget. To explore your options, click the link on our New Patients page.
